View Details→About the RAM 1500
The Ram 1500 is a half-ton pickup offered in regular, Quad, and Crew cab configurations with a range of bed lengths, and it has used coil-spring rear suspension since 2009 rather than the leaf springs common on competing half-tons. Engine choices have included V6 and V8 gas engines, an EcoDiesel V6 in some years, and a mild-hybrid eTorque system on later trucks. Towing and payload figures vary by cab, bed, and engine combination.
What to check before you buy
- Air suspension height sensors and compressor operation, if equipped
- Cab, bed, and engine combination matches the towing needs
- Four-wheel-drive transfer case and driveline service history
- EcoDiesel emissions system service history, if equipped
- Frame and bed condition from work use
